Prototypical Design offers a school system design consistency, along with a savings in design cost and time. The school design will need to be adapted to the site, however the schematic design and design development phases have already been completed. Having been “pre-designed,” school officials know what they are getting and have an idea of construction costs. Additionally, the design is familiar to the County Building Department, which reduces review time. MSSA has extensive experience in the design and site adaptation of prototypical school facilities.

The response by school districts to our prototypical design program has been very positive. For example, one district has adapted six middle schools and nine elementary schools to new sites. Another client has adapted six high schools, six middle schools and 14 elementary schools to new sites. Most recently, a two-story prototypical middle school was designed for a school district to use on two sites as well as a new prototypical high school and elementary school.
